It’s an extreme lack of awareness I’m reminded of every single day while biking in one of the most cycling dense cities in the world.

Here in Amsterdam we say the bike lanes are colored red as a blood stain warning to those ignorant enough to not watch where they’re going.

Look, I’ve never been a star spangled patriot so I’m not surprised by the state of the States, but as an American migrant who’s plan has always been to relinquish my citizenship, it does hit different to know I have real options for asylum in other countries.

I wholeheartedly agree and don’t call myself an expat, but have been *called in* for using immigrant.

Maybe it’s the in-fighting at play, but I’ve been told that as a white American (albeit, trans queer guy) that I shouldn’t use immigrant and instead use migrant.
