As a bonus I hit a few other targets on the way round, but think my winter homework will need to include nocking under pressure practice as that has definitely let me down this weekend 🤣
Overall very happy and very tired now!

After a slightly hairy non-shooting run I had a plan, and the plan worked out - we kept to the course and went within the time (first goal) and we jumped and hit the jump shot (second goal) 🎉
of ideas in Gauchoux to really test us and got us the first jump shot on a UK hunt track!
A significant amount of the track was unfenced which meant there would be plenty of riding to be done and some tactical decisions over shooting or steering in places 😅
running and pulling up, for the most part without even using the neck strap 😊
Today was the important day, to put to the test my Historical Eurasian Cavalry Discipline and riding training on the hunt track.
Only Monkey's second hunt track, and although at 2* level Helen Kate had picked up lots
From mum:
This weekend was the Cotteswold Mounted Archers Open competition and Monkey has been in his best warhorse mode for myself and Dom 😁
Yesterday I wasn't displeased with my Raid and Tower scores given that I've not really trained them this year, but I was really happy with how Monkey was
Mum had a busy few days doing a competition in France. She was able to do the 4* Hunt track.
She was happy not to come last.

the best part was just the feeling of trust and connection with Monkey doing something that would have been so far out of our comfort zone even last year 😁
the riding, but I was confident dropping the reins and letting Monkey get on with his job so managed to shoot 13 arrows each run.

Happily I did hit the long shot once which helped with the points and our Trec training came in handy for the stop/shoot from halt target, but really
our previous history of separation anxiety and inability to go off across a field on our own to 'do a thing' 🙈
But he was so good for both Dom and myself in the warm up this morning and went on to run all four of his runs well (2 with each of us). My shooting wasn't the best as I was focused more on

Today was a Big Day...

Monkey's first hunt track in canter and at the first IHAA hunt track in the UK no less!

After cautiously trotting it last night (after he ran 8-9s runs in the Raid 😜) I was anxious about not making him anxious due to

FURUSIYA COURSE - WALK

With this being the Walk postal, our main focus is on the beginner and iHBA entries.

Congratulations to Ros Jones (Cotteswold Mounted Archers, United Kingdom) on Monkey
Yay. Good to see you here.
That's 3 accounts now with HBA interests. A few more & we can get a starter pack going 😁
Yay.

I will clarify so there's no confusion, I run the account, but I'm just a cheerleader for Ros & Monkey, who wants to try & bolster SM presence for all HBA.
Here's hoping we find some more.

If we get enough, I can then get a starter pack going as it requires a minimum number of people.
Woohoo 🏹🎯
Great to hear from you.
