It's a sad day with the realization that we have to play the long game not only with #Trump but also, it seems, after the #Alberta MOU yesterday #MarkCarney

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

substack.com/@rachelgilmo... A good summary of the implications of more and more people are viewing as a dumb move by #MarkCarney yestersay.

Carney just signed a deal with Alberta that lays out conditions for a new oil pipeline. In doing this, he managed to piss off one of his own cabinet ministers (who promptly resigned), coastal First N...

Why didn't #MarkCarney and the investment cronies with which he has surrounded himself consult BC costal first nations groups? Why didn't he consult the Premiere of BC? These egregious lapses will punish him and the Liberal members in BC, and they will deserve it! #LPC

Check out this interview with #MarkCarney. It reveals the possibility that we may be witnessing a potential hypocrite in 2025, though no doubt he would argue that circumstances have changed.
Mark Carney: Investing in net-zero climate solutions creates value and rewards | United Nations
In a recent interview, UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance Mark Carney spoke about how private finance is increasingly aligned behind achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. He underli...

I'm beginning to suspect ##MarkCarney is a conservative at heart and that he joined the #LPC because it offered a path to power and that the #PCP did not. His #MOU yesterday with Smith and the #COP30 decision are conservative moves, undermining the admiral environmental policies of Trudeau's tenure.

"Steven Guilbeault resigns from cabinet following Carney government's energy deal with Alberta." Now that's moral courage when we need it! #MarkCarney #StevenGuilbeault #Alberta #Climatechange #Moralcourage #LPC

Have you noticed that several of the new trade agreements #MarkCarney has negotiated overlook human rights abuses in favour of trade? Isn't such a blind eye a serious moral compromise? Carney's industrualizing economic strategies may at first glance seem fruitful, but at what moral price?

Has the tarrifs dispute with the Trump regime become a mere alibi enabling the indisputable movement of Carney's government towards authoritarianism as it tries to deepen Canada's industrialization through new, aggressive trade agreements? ##MarkCarney #tarrifs #authoritarianism

Noam Chomsky, himself a Jew, recently said that Israel should not exist. Under the legislation now being enacted in Carney's surprising authoritarian moves, could such a remark be construed as "hate speech"? And if so, who would determine that? #hatespeech #MarkCarney

It's Nov. 26, and the temperature today will rise to 10° in the Ottawa area. Contrast this weather with, say, the weather on this date just 20 years ago. Will naysayers, governments, and emissions polluting industries get the message? #ClimateChange is a real existential threat! #GlobalWarming😧

Did you know that when the newly formed U.S., consisting of the former 13 British colonies, attacked Fort York in Upper Canada (now Toronto, Ontario) in 2012 that 3/4 of the population of UC were U.S. immigrant?.🤔

An interesting question raised by a user on X: where does all the beef come from to service all the fast food chains? #McDonald's alone sells 6.5 million burgers a day! Add on Burger King, Wendy's, A&W, Harvey's, and 10 or more and this becomes more than an interesting question. #SoylentGreen? #Beef

Take a look at some of those trade deals Mark Carney is negotiating and you'll discover that several of them give extraordinary power to the trade partner, the UAE deal being the most recent. #MarkCarney #Trade

There's a considerable amount of corruption swirling around Doug Ford's regime, but the open faced decision to replace local school boards with appointed bureaucrats is disturbing, to say the least. Boards should be staffed by citizens who live in the community where a given board is. #DougFord

Is Canada moving towards a police state with the proposed Bills C2, C8, C9, and C63? Unbelievablely, it would seem so.

With the proliferation of streaming services, filmmaking has increasingly lost its status as a precious entity. There's just too much mediocre product out there, almost all of it driven by an algorithm of a given streaming service.

So now Carney is not only backpedaling on the environment in the interests of international trade but also on feminism. Some may see these moves as pragmatically necessary, but they remain disturbing moves both politically and environmentally.

How pathetically ironic that a first-generation child of an immigrant from a "third world country" has the absolute gall to authoratively chastise any other nation for its immigration policy. The U.S. has always been a problematic country, but it has now surely lost its way. Is redemption possible?
November 22, 2025 at 9:38 PM
It's is profoundly disturbing to learn that Canada did not sign the roadmap agreement to phase out fossil fuels at COP30, weaseling out by representatives claiming want to look more closely at the details of the agreement. Carney continues to backpedal on climate change.

What is most worrisome about AI is people, particularly students, using AI to write. We define ourselves through language. We construct our world and experiences through language. The more facility we have with language, the richer our lives are.

Paramount and CBS used to be two of the most respected entertainment/media organizations in the world. All the respected journalists and moviwmakers of the Golden years of radio, TV, and films must be turning over in their graves. And how about the new disturbing head of CBS News?

I canceled my subscription to Paramount because I'm uncomfortable with senior management. Instead of the cancellation taking effect immediately, it will not take effect until Aprl 26!! What does that tell you?

What Smith and her Alberta supporters need to realize is that the only solution to conflict with the federal government is a fusion of pragmatism and virtue.
