I went to immigration court in Seattle to observe the kids docket. These children, some as young as three years old, are expected to understand complex legal processes and represent themselves in court.

That’s not due process.

i love this so much. i purchased a blender for a young man who wants to make healthy smoothies & soups. i am thrilled that he is going to get something he wants for christmas that supports his goals
I have been looking at Black Friday sales for a week but I do not actually need anything so instead I closed all those tabs and bought a Polaroid for a foster kid in Florida who uses photography to deal with big feelings. Perhaps you would like to do the same for one of the kids at the link below?
🧵 We are, in fact, doing the thing again for @onesimplewish.bsky.social. In 2024, the kind people of this community put the money cannon on blast to help grant $75K in wishes for children in foster care. Toys, tech, a suit for job interviews. Here we go again! 👇

No…degrees were not “removed” from a list of “professional degrees.” It’s not about mandated reporters, either. The media is getting it wrong, and it is snowballing out of control.

Here’s three videos about what’s going on and why we NEED to get this right if we want to stop it:

virginia federal workers & all who fought so hard for the outcome of the elections last week, hope you are unrelenting as you give @kaine.senate.gov a piece of your mind today

hope at least it was a pinky promise you cowards gave in to 🙄🙄🙄

shame on the senate democrats who are putting their own self interests above the pleading, sacrificing, & very clear mandate of the people you represent.

you clearly don’t know how to read the room after the elections last week

If the sandwich stayed whole, the defense meets its goal
The defense team presses Lairmore on whether the sandwich really 'exploded.' They return to the photo of the sandwich and wrapper on the ground.

"That sandwich hasn't exploded at all, has it?" defense asks.

"It looks like a little bit is coming out towards the bottom," Lairmore replies.

I included Emmanuel in my article about ICE being a mass disabling event.

Not only are they kidnapping and abusing disabled people, their actions are causing additional disability.

They’re carrying out a eugenics agenda:

Disabled People are Being Mistreated in ICE Detention Facilities
Why is no one talking about it? Where's the media? Where's the public outcry? Another example of the pervasive nature of ableism and how society views disabled people as expendable.

Day 24 of Emmanuel Garcia being in federal custody.

He’s a 15 year old autistic boy who went missing 4 weeks ago. Houston PD found him, contacted ICE & his Mom is fighting to get him back

She’s not allowed to visit him.

They’re keeping a disabled kid from his family & the media is largely silent

Meridah Nandudu was a single mom of two kids, unemployed and in despair. Then she had an idea: Maybe the "humble" coffee beans she'd grown up with on her parents' farm could lead her to a better life. n.pr/4nUB3ES

the measure of our society rests on how we treat people with disabilities. denying the rights of children who qualify for special education services does not bode well
We’ve now heard that most of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) at ED is being let go as well. The harm caused to students if these layoffs are allowed to proceed cannot be overstated. ED cannot carry out its statutorily required duties without these offices.

shame on them for firing everyone & using AI to lazily identify grants that have words they don’t like. it has lifelong impacts on children & families. when you put someone previously in charge of the WWE, who knows nothing about education, in charge of education.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

An analysis by ProPublica and The Assembly of the more rural counties in North Carolina hardest hit by Helene shows that the households that got the most aid tended to have the highest incomes.

The conversation between Klein and Coates showed me that a lot of people who screech about “infighting” on the left aren’t aware of the fact that marginalized people have been forced to learn how to regulate their emotions during conflict, and so, are better able to hear what’s actually being said.
