Ngahere geckos are mostly active at night and are often seen in and near the safety of cracks in rock banks or hidden amongst vegetation. This ngahere gecko was spotted out in vegetation during the day - you can see how well its colours blend with its surroundings for camouflage.

Ruru | morepork are heard regularly at night throughout the valley at Zealandia and are becoming more common in Wellington's suburban gardens, probably having benefitted from control of mammalian pests in the area.
