Was waylaid by Halloween but here is my latest story. Judge Jackson said late Friday afternoon he would rule as soon as he could -- my latest story.

Durango family was detained without a warrant — lawyers say it’s another example of ICE not following the law
In a separate civil case, an ICE supervisor said he understands that the detainment was a "collateral arrest."

Lawyers representing the 4 plaintiffs are now pushing on that, bringing up individual cases -- including this week's detention of a family in Durango -- and asking how they were assessed. I'll update this space with news. Thanks for following along. 🎃
On the stand now is Gregory Davies, who is the #3 at ICE in Colorado. Federal government lawyers established that ICE officers go through a lot of training on this, assessing people for flight risk and that all of the determinations they've made this year have been proper.
Hi🖐️ -- we're still here in the cavernous, windowless courtroom in the federal building hearing arguments about whether Colorado ICE officers are illegally taking immigrants into custody and detention without assessing their flight risk.
Here are my latest two stories on this growing escalation between local government officials and ICE.

Where does $20 million come from? Massive jury award will test George Floyd-era police reform law in higher courts
The law attempts to hold cities and officers accountable for egregious mistakes on the job — and lawyers are trying to outsmart it.

How much rain did we get overall? Wondering if I can leave the sprinklers off for awhile!
Particularly newsworthy at this moment because assaults on ICE officers are one of the reasons the federal government is using to send federal troops in to cities.

Two of those people are in Colombia and are being brought back for it.
They wouldn't answer how many of the 30 people indicted were Venezuelans or how many TdA members are in Colorado. They did say 8 of the 30 were either leaders or in the gang.
Another Colorado judge is ordering federal agents to stop making immigration arrests at courthouses
Just a little more than 5k Coloradans last year failed background checks to buy weapons. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, which just received an additional $1.4 million for this very purpose, investigated about 90 of these people. That yielded about 30 arrests.
The tl;dr version of all of this is that very, VERY seldom does anyone do anything with this tidy list of people who try to buy guns when they're not supposed to.
