Hooray! This is one of my favourite podcasts and it sheds a LOT of light on how authors feel about our industry. Every publishing person should listen to it.
good GOD it's been a long time 🫠

No promises on the quality of this episode! We're rusty as anything. Huge thanks to "Drake Scottford" for being our special guest this episode!

Things I'd like the judges to look for: books that break the mould and do surprising things with form, books that challenge expectations and kick against the pricks generally, books that bring kids pure joy and excitement. Books kids act out in games. Books kids create fanart and fanfic of.

That's it, I'm hanging up my blurb-writing hat for good after reading this.

I've emailed my MP @stephenmorganmp.bsky.social about this, as swifts are a beloved sight and sound here in Portsmouth South and it's obvious that all MPs should be supportive of swift bricks. What's not to like about a brick with a hole in it that could help bring swifts back from the brink.
Nature action: email STEVE REED m: [email protected] simply saying MANDATE SWIFT BRICKS. If you want you can email me at [email protected] for a template but that is the simple message to convey. PEOPLE POWER WORKS BUT ONLY … if enough people actually act !!

people will tell you they don't understand gender fluidity then look right at a ship called the Edmund Fitzgerald and call it "her" without missing a beat

Seeing as it's her feast day, it would be remiss of me not to mention that Hildegard of Bingen gets a mention in The Riddle of the Fractal Monks. More about it here: www.jonathanpinnock.com/books/mathem...

I would like to negotiate a deal with the moths where they get to eat any one (1) of my jumpers, instead of taking bites out of all (all) of them.

How have I only just discovered that @gailmyerscough.co.uk has a whole Tricorn range? This changes EVERYTHING.
If I’m being honest, I’m feeling pretty crap about my small business.

It’s so bloody difficult at the moment with rising costs, US tariffs, Brexit nonsense and the threat of AI.

Please have a look at what I do and repost to spread the word gailmyerscough.co.uk

I'm currently in the last chapter of this jaunty vacay and can confirm it's deeply troubling and I'm enjoying it a lot. Planning to volunteer for the next research trip to Area X.
Portland: My novel Annihilation, about a fun vacay to the jaunty seaside town of Crawler, is still high on the bestseller list at Powell's Hawthorne. I went in and signed a ton of my books. Buy now while there is still money.

Ahahahahhaa I’ve just discovered that the drivel on whether men are being pushed out of publishing is a whole FORTY-FIVE minutes long! How is it possible to discuss a non-question at such extravagant length???

Look, it’s my fault that there are three fewer male novelists than last week or whatever, I’ve been eating them.

If you were born between 1970-1990 you may not have full MMR protection, even if you had parents who took you for all your jabs. The NHS will give you a free booster. With cases surging, this is a great way to protect yourself & your community. I’m getting mine tomorrow www.nhs.uk/vaccinations...

If dangerous, why sweet?
Generative AI is useful, whatever the other concerns? Interesting. Unrelatedly, did you know that the nectar at the bottom of the pitcher plant is sweet and, in its way, genuinely nutritious?
