for example if you informed most millennials & zoomers that "vibe" was one of the preeminent slang terms of the american midcentury a good 60 years ago they would probably be surprised. its cool how terms find their little places throughout the cultural landscape and settle there like nesting doves

now before someone gets contrarian with me, i am aware all of these phrases/words already exist in the language in some form, many are revitalizations of previous language trends, or small tweaks of existing idioms etc etc. i know. im saying their increasing presence in language i hear is neat to me

"glazing", "aura"/"aura farming" both excellent additions to the language. "dogwater" as a descriptor of something that's trifling and shitty is also great

not a huge fan of the uncritical adoption by white kids of AAVE without proper awareness/sometimes improper implementation of its correct grammar but thats not a new phenomenon, white people have always done that

"rubbish", "bit shit innit" and "cant be arsed" (with the R included despite "arse" not being the idiomatic spelling in usa english, we universally say/use "ass") are all phrases i used to exclusively hear in british media until relatively recently, unless the usa speaker was a teaboo like myself

i love keeping up with what new slang young people are coming up with/popularizing because its just a good way to stay fluent in my native language and not get beefbrain and turn into a facebook uncle, but one of my fav things is hearing more and more usa zoomers adopting UK slang verbatim
