If you’ve just got here, you might find this thread useful.

Oh, and if we’re mutuals from elsewhere, you might find others you know via this Starter Pack: go.bsky.app/6RLqFKd (the thread explains what an SP is, if you haven’t come across the term yet).

Useful things for recent Xwitter refugees to know.

Mostly, this looks and acts very similar to X.

Do you think a photograph taken using a camera trap should be eligible for a photography prize? [Serious question.]

I’m mainly thinking of wildlife photography here.

NEW SOLUTIONS TO THE TROLLEY CAR PROBLEM

By me and @postcardsbybecky.bsky.social

Read more cartoons! #PoliCartoon
Help us make more! patreon.com/barry
This cartoon has four panels. Each panel shows a different scene with one character in it. And each panel has a caption, in large letters, at the top. A large caption over the top of the entire strip says NEW SOLUTIONS TO THE TROLLEY CAR PROBLEM.

PANEL ONE

CAPTION: REPUBLICANS

A smiling, well-dressed woman with long blonde hair stands behind a podium, gesturing to indicate a trolley car parked behind her. The trolley car is gory with blood spattered all over the front, and we can see bodies under the car.

WOMAN: Cleaning blood off a trolley car is expensive! That's why we're proposing tax breaks for trolley car companies!

PANEL TWO

CAPTION: LIBERTARIANS

A man with a very thick orange beard, wearing a green knit cap and a plaid shirt, is sitting in his armchair at home and speaking directly to us, with an intense expression. He's holding a joint in one hand and raising his I'm-making-an-important-point-now-forefinger with the other. Next to him one one side are a bunch of LP records stored in milk cartons; on the other side is a side table with a bottle of whisky, a whisky glass, and a thick book.

MAN: Trolley car companies need freedom to choose who to run over without bureaucrats getting in the way! Deregulate now!

PANEL THREE

CAPTION: DEMOCRATS

This is the same scene as panel one, but now a frightened looking old man, wearing huge glasses, a jacket and a bow tie, is behind the podium. He is shaking and sweating a bit as he talks to us. His dialogue is split into three balloons.

MAN: Something must be done! Er, someday. Maybe. If no one disagrees. Gotta stay bipartisan!

PANEL FOUR

CAPTION: TERFs

A woman wearing a blue pantsuit, and with nicely-done short white hair, is sitting on a park bench, looking thoughtful.

WOMAN (thought): One person's life versus six people's lives... Hmmm. Which choice hurts more trans people?

It was the now defunct Afternoon D&C. This was 2016. Here is a picture the veteran journalist Ayaz Memon took at the time.

Mumbai restrict Baroda to 286/9

Friday, October 14, 2016

NEW DELHI: Mumbai bowlers put up an impressive show as they restricted Baroda to 286 for 9 on the first day of a Randi Trophy group league encounter, here.

Save wicketkeeper-batsman Final Shah, who hit a gutsy 66 off 125 balls (10x4), none of the Baroda batsmen showed enough patience to stay at the wicket despite some of them playing enough balls to get set.

Veteran India discard Suffuse Nathan, who smashed his way to 41 off only 28 balls with eight fours didn't use discretion as he was cleaned up by medium pacer Tush Spandex.

The situation demanded patience from the senior Nathan but he decided to attack and it was only partially successful.

Similarly, opener Acidity Demode (39, 122 balls) and IPL star Deep Hood (46 off 88 balls) did all the handwork during the first two hours only to throw it away after getting set.

The pitch at the Model Sports Complex in Palau has been a perennially sluggish one where stroke play is difficult.

Left-arm spinner Veejay Shiloh (3/70 in 16 overs) was punished by Nathan but came back well to get three quick wickets in the end...

India's Test specialist Shard Arthur got 2/77 bout bowled a lot of boundary balls during the 22 overs.

I mean, he’s no stuffed shirt.
zigzackly.bsky.social
You would leave him in stitches.

Yep, I meant exactly that.

Ugh. Sorry. Otto Krekt is the true villain. That was supposed to be: including being a delightful baddie.
zigzackly.bsky.social
Including because delightful baddie.
In another 15 years, she could play M.
zigzackly.bsky.social
I’m curious about the ingratiating part, if you would care to expand on that. It isn’t something I would have associated with him. (Of course I never met the man, so this is solely based on his public persona.)

Gonna fight you on that because I have had a crush on Tabu since the late 90s and I think she can do anything.

I know you mentioned Hrithik Roshan, but are there any candidates from the Indian film industries you would approve of as Bond?
Across genders.
For instance, I can totally see Tabu kicking arse and shooting baddies while looking cool and deadly.
zigzackly.bsky.social
I would have loved to have seen Irfan Khan as Bond.

Northern minaret of the Times of India building seen through one of the stained glass windows of VT.

Cc: @ruderigues.bsky.social
Picture is a photograph taken through the various colours of a stained glass window. The dome shows more clearly in one facet, with the other facets letting in a distorted view because of the texture of the glass. A tighter view showing only what is visible through a red pane. The building is more clearly visible, though still hazy, as is a tree beside it and some traffic below. A slightly different angle through yellow-green glass. Through grey-blue glass.
