I had a patient's family wash the pine pollen off my car as a thanks for "all the joy I spread". Then I got cussed out when calling another patient's daughter to schedule a visit.

Working in hospice is an emotional rollercoaster some days.
Working in Hospice, I resist by more intentional in being curious and nonjudgmental with patients and families. Even though they disagree with my politics and theology, I try my best to find God in them and hope that helps them orient towards being more loving of their neighbors.
Y'all, things keep feeling apocalyptic and horrible but I'm trying to find moments of joy. In that spirit, here's a picture of my cat to brighten up your feed!
Good thoughts

I think nostalgia also gives us a measuring stick for our relationship to God and one another. Like the Eben-Ezer of Samuel, we can make sure we remember the important times and spaces in our lives and orient ourselves correctly.
As heavy as hospice chaplaincy can be at times, nothing melts the heart like hearing a patient ask for more visits because they "really enjoy having someone to talk to".

Canada is a “country that should be a (US) state,” reiterates President Trump. “They’ll get much better treatment, much better care and much lower taxes, and they’ll be much more secure.”
It's strange (or maybe just sad) how the video games I've played made me better prepared to give empathy and resist corruption than the church I grew up attending.

Only very sporadically used Twitter, only keeping Facebook for the incredibly old family members that I don't interact with any other way
So did anyone have "starting shit with the Episcopalians" on their bingo card for the first week? Cause I, for one, did not.
