At this point I'm just assuming these accounts with like 8 followers are bots or a part of the 7 figure fossil fuel industry Ad buy.

EVs exist in their current iteration because of California Air Quality legislation and also a huge tool to fight GHG Emissions, and are immediately effective at both.

Yes.

U.S. automakers are *NOT* Canadian automakers. There's ZERO devotion there. If anything U.S. automakers are taking advantage of Canadians projecting "Canadian auto industry" delusions on foreign (U.S.) brands.

Just wild to watch.

Thankfully, GM isn’t the only automaker out there, and carmakers who are building their volume EVs in the U.S. with high U.S./Canadian content are dropping MSRP below the federal subsidies. It’s a great time for globally competitive brands!

That's an EREV with an ICE engine, GM and Ford sell Chinese vehicles with ICE engines under Buick and Lincoln in North America, so it should be fine, they don't want to collapse their Buick and Lincoln brands :P.

Of GM and ford slow walking EVs, lobbying against EV legislation, and selling Chinese ICE vehicles under Buick and Lincoln while pushing for tariffs on Minis and Volvos, yes. Can't keep that GM/Ford average vehicle price above $55k to squeeze Americans dry with affordable options out there 🤣

When I bought my EV I had a sports car and a 4x4, both, quickly sold within the first year. Four years in, it still gets well over EPA range, still charges in under 20 minutes on 1,000 mile road trips, and still gets me there relaxed and refreshed.

Totally! That's what I mean, they'll likely do some of that.

IONIQ 6 N is what, 4,600 lbs? 800 lbs lighter, faster, better handling than an M5, 400 lbs lighter, faster, better handling than i4 M whatever, pack is ~1,050 LBs, so they should be able to get it down to 4,000 lbs with e-GMP.s

Awesome! Consumers deserve great, globally competitive products. If domestic automakers refuse to make them, and instead spend R&D billions on stock buy backs, screw 'em.

Hyundai's about to launch their e-GMP.s vehicles, they'll provide 50% greater range without needing to wait until 2030+ for Solid State, should achieve the goal you're looking for.

Gotcha, I got the impression you were expecting really big weight savings, the M3's a porker at nearly 4k lbs.

The other issue is adoption. We've got the Equinox EV with a 100 kWh gross pack providing the same range as an IONIQ 5 with 84 kWh, doubt non-chines will have SS mainstream <2030.

Oh, no arguing that, just saying U.S. automakers make a few EVs in Canada, those might be the only two, but that's by design, hence getting the EV requirements postponed as they pull back on EVs in North America.

"happened to me today... had it die on me on the interstate- it was absolutely terrifying. Was driving 70 mph and it just shut off and told me to shift to park- was able to make it off onto the shoulder, turned it off and back on again, tried getting back on the interstate... wouldn't accelerate."

Both are great choices, I really enjoy PANDO's approach (eu style) of just providing a controlled/metered outlet and letting folks bring their one mobile cables for cost sensitive situations:

It's just whatever can be done, where-ever. Level 2 makes tons of sense at city centers, parks, etc.

About the same delta here, Solid Stat was expected to save about 220 lbs on a 90 kWh pack in 2023.

I'm not sure a weight savings of 200 lbs at 100 kWh (as estimated currently) is going to be that significant?

That would drop an EV9 GT-Line to 5,600 lbs, or bring an A6 down to 5,000 lbs. If that holds true as it scales, EX30 would drop to ~4,050 lbs.
