Post-Nibelheim Sephiroth IS difficult for me to enjoy as well, but Rebirth and Remake has ignited a new appreciation of the development since we can sometimes see flickers of CC's Sephiroth shine through

Yes! In ff7 he also changes up how he refers to himself in Japanese. Sometimes he uses "ore" and sometimes "watashi".

It's really interesting because these two versions have drastically different ways of showing emotions too!

this is insane because I've literally played the game with someone sitting next to me going "WHY does nobody like Roche??"

but also this leaves me baffled with how he charismatically manages to motivate the entire mobile unit with a direction like that 😆
