#RoseTuesday - A few October blooms on my bike loop. The last phone pic from late August.

#MEcfsEgress #BloomScrolling DailyNaturePics 174
Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up, sunlit vertical photo of a single, classic, creamy-white rose (Rosa genus) in full bloom. The petals are tightly packed and ruffled in the center, catching the sunlight and casting soft shadows that highlight the flower's form. In the background, there are hints of green leaves, a small rose bud, a few dried, brown petals, and a patch of bright blue sky. Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up vertical photo of two intensely fuchsia-pink roses with a dense cluster of green leaves behind them. The front rose is in focus, showing slightly ruffled petals with a few scattered pale yellow-green marks, which could indicate minor damage or fading. Behind it, a second pink rose is slightly out of focus. In the upper right and lower right background, clusters of tiny reddish-brown flower buds belonging to another plant, possibly a Sedum or stonecrop, are visible. Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up, sunlit vertical photo of a pair of white roses in full bloom. The primary rose, in sharp focus, has many ruffled petals that catch the warm afternoon light, with a cluster of visible gold-brown stamens at its center. A second, partially obscured white rose is visible just above it. The background is a mix of blurred, dark green leaves and brown branches. Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A detailed, horizontal close-up of a single rose bloom featuring a striking blend of colors, primarily a deep, rich salmon pink to coral color in the center, fading to a lighter peach pink at the edges. The rose is fully open, with numerous softly curved petals. The background is a mix of sun-dappled, blurred green and brown foliage and what appears to be a light-colored paved pathway in the distance.

SLR shot, august... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A macro photograph focusing on a dense patch of bright, lush green moss covering a rocky surface in the foreground. The individual, tiny leaves of the moss are sharply detailed. Behind the moss, a large, blurry, light gray rock provides a soft-focus background element, separating the bright green from the muted gray. Phone pic, on walk in May... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A very close-up, angled shot of vibrant, rich green moss growing densely over an unseen surface, likely a tree trunk or rock. Strong sunlight illuminates the upper section of the moss, creating bright highlights and emphasizing the soft, textured peaks and valleys of the plant, while the lower section recedes into a darker, soft-focus shadow. SLR shot, same camera when it was new. Weak effort though... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A terrarium contained within a clear glass jar with a metal clasp lid. The terrarium features a visible cross-section of layers, with a thick bed of lush, bright green moss dominating the middle section, sitting atop a darker soil layer and a lighter, sandy or gravel base. A few small, green plants are visible near the back of the moss layer, which is slightly obscured by condensation or fog on the glass.

I'd been eyeing these unique pink (Bowden?) lilies for a week or so. But can't get a macro shot while staying off unknown people's properly, heh. Thankfully I spotted some more accessible, further on, during a recon ride yesterday.

Gemini disagrees with all names! (ALT)
Phone pic... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A wide shot of a large cluster of blooming Naked Lady Lilies or Resurrection Lilies (Amaryllis belladonna). Numerous clusters of soft pink, trumpet-shaped flowers rise up on tall, leafless, green stalks from the earth, contrasting against a backdrop of vibrant green lawn and a concrete border on the left. Fallen brown leaves are visible at the base of the stems.

- These seed heads also ID'd as "Field Sowthistles", same spot beside our driveway, but a couple weeks earlier than above...
- Waist high, there too, Gemini thinks "Pearly Everlasting" (Anaphalis triplinervis), but I don't trust it. It's been even more haphazard lately.
Phone pic. Mid July... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A macro shot of two fluffy white seed heads, characteristic of a plant in the Asteraceae family like Goat's-beard (Tragopogon). Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A dramatic, low-angle photograph looking straight up the trunk and branches of a white-barked birch tree. The bark is strikingly pale white with darker, horizontal striations and patches of moss or lichen. The trunk splits into several thick branches that reach upward, creating a Y-shaped pattern against the bright, overcast sky. The edges of the canopy show small green and yellowing leaves, indicating the transition to autumn.

#MEcfsEgress #BloomScrolling DailyNaturePics 165
SLR shot, early September... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up shot of the bud and early flowering stage of Common Ivy (Hedera helix). The image focuses on a light green, branching stem bearing multiple small, dome-shaped clusters (umbels) of spherical flower buds. The clusters vary in size and developmental stage, with the largest one at the top right showing individual buds just beginning to separate and look like tiny stars. In the foreground, a single, glossy, dark green, unlobed, mature ivy leaf is visible, providing a smooth contrast to the detailed, knobby texture of the flower clusters. The background is a soft, dark, and blurred green. Phone pic... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up shot of the flowering stage of Common Ivy (Hedera helix). Three globular, starburst-like flower clusters, known as umbels, dominate the foreground. The individual flowers are small, yellowish-green, and tightly packed, with distinct protruding yellow-tipped stamens giving the cluster a fuzzy texture. To the right and below, there is a cluster of smaller, still-closed spherical buds. The flowering stems are light green and branch out from a main stem. In the lower right corner, several mature, deep green, unlobed, heart-shaped or elliptical ivy leaves are partially visible, while the background is a soft, dark-green blur of more ivy foliage and a path. Phone pic, while biking... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A wide shot of a dense mass of Common Ivy (Hedera helix) growing against a wall or large support structure on the left. The vine is abundant, with its characteristic dark green, lobed juvenile leaves visible lower down, and its bushy, mature flowering shoots prominent on the left, displaying numerous clusters of small, pale green flower buds and developing flowers. The plant frames a pastoral scene: a wide field of golden-brown crops stretches across the mid-ground, and a cluster of modern, dark-roofed residential buildings sits on the distant tree-line. A bright blue sky with large, puffy white and grey clouds fills the top right portion of the frame, providing an airy contrast to the deep green foliage. Phone pic... Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: An extreme close-up of a developing flower cluster of Common Ivy (Hedera helix), shortly after the petals have dropped or failed to open completely. The central focus is a dense, globular cluster of small, green, developing fruits/buds, known as berries. They are round with a pointed, five-lobed tip (the remains of the calyx) and appear slightly sticky or waxy. Several clear droplets of water or nectar cling to the surface of the green berries and the central stem, reflecting light. At the bottom right, a few remaining open, yellowish-green flowers with stamens are still visible, suggesting the cluster is transitioning from the flowering to the fruiting stage.

Two clusters of three papery bracts are visible, with the small, white, tubular true flowers protruding from the center of each. The background is a soft blur of green foliage and more purple color. Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up, sunlit photograph of a white Dahlia flower with a slightly pink-lavender center. The petals are soft and layered, forming a near-sphere. To the right, a tight bud with yellow-green and pink hues is visible, and another, less focused white dahlia bloom is in the soft background. Green foliage is visible below. Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up, top-down view of a single-flowered Dahlia bloom. Today was the Christian feast of St. Michael and All Angels, for which these American plants were named upon UK introduction, ~1700, blooming concurrently.

Michaelmas daisies! Or more correctly, "New England Asters". See [ALT]s.

Nice healthy plants at the Cematorium car park a couple weeks back. Phone pic... Query successful

Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up, high-angle photograph focusing on several vibrant, bright magenta or fuchsia flowers with narrow petals and yellow centers, likely New England Asters (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae). The front flower is fully open and sharply in focus, showing its distinct ray and disc florets. Another open flower is visible but slightly blurred in the middle background, along with a tightly closed bud on the left. The background is a soft blur of green foliage and more pink flowers. Our daisies did very poorly this year. Affected by powdery mildew or some kind of white mold, I think? SLR shot... Shallow Focus Sunday - SLR shots, back garden, July/Aug:
- Pendulous sedge, chilling by the shed.
- Fuschia, different colour variety I'd not spotted behind garden furniture.
- Snowberry, reprise of shy little blooms, shady border.

Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up shot of a sedge plant, possibly a Carex species like Drooping Sedge (Carex pendula), showing several long, drooping, cylindrical seed or flower spikes (catkins) that are dried and brown, hanging down from the long, bright green, arching grass-like leaves and stems. The background is a solid, dark, blurred area. Description by Gemini 2.5 Flash: A close-up image showing the foliage and small flowers of a vine or shrub, potentially a species of wintergreen (Gaultheria) or a similar plant. Large, dark green, oval-shaped leaves dominate the frame, partially obscuring clusters of small, bell-shaped flowers with pale pink to white petals and pinkish calyxes, growing along a reddish-brown stem. The flowers are mostly clustered at the nodes where the leaves meet the stem. The overall impression is lush and shady.
