If it helps at all you could start with making an oc? I find it fun to use apps like pastel girl or base a character on an object or concept. I don't think fan art is an inherently amateur thing to make but making an oc as well could be a fun exercise?

I feel this but it's good to remember that art comes in many forms! There's quite a lot of artists who ONLY make fan art and do just fine. There's never going to be "one true way" to be a real artist so do what makes you happy 🫶
