Mum is mean. I didn't get one. Something about not being able to afford dental surgery. But I did get some beef lung instead. Mum says it smells like someone died in a portapotty next to a curry house during a heatwave. She's so dramatic.

We have rain today too of the icy variety. Mum took me to the vet yesterday and I got poked. They tricked me with liver treats. I'm very sleepy today and I have not forgiven her.

This is how our fish will spend the next few months. They age from 3 yrs old to 10 yrs. We had a koi for 25 years before the seagulls happened. We've now befriended a crow family and they protect our yard from the gulls and other predators.

In our garage, which has minimal heat. We have a stock tank with a light on a timer so they get at 7-8 hrs of light a day. The water has to be kept below 10°C. Any higher than that and you have to feed the fish and maintain a robust filtration system. We like the water temp at about 6°C.

We have koi & comets. They are easy to keep once the pond is established. The hardest part is catching them in the autumn (we don't move them until they are ready to hibernate) & that means it's cold. Usually when the pond begins to ice over. Miss Xev helps at every stage lol

It's late this year. Usually we get a snowfall the first week of Oct. That melts and we get a week or two of reprieve. The next snow is the one that stays until April. But climate change has been hitting us hard. We've officially changed our gardening zones from 2 to 3.

Their favourite games are defend the castle, the floor is lava, spin circles until mum is dizzy then spin some more (being on leash is essential), who can yell the loudest, pat down its the pawlice (police), and jump over/on obstacles (ie fence or park bench). Gertrude is cordially invited.
