Well, a lot of manoeuvring later, and the Gurkhas are still no closer to taking out the bunkers. And they’ve taken some casualties on the way. So time to call it. Japanese win…
And then this happens… turn end, smoke disappears and it begins to rain… and using one of two CoC dice, the Japanese redeploy the vulnerable JOP… bugger!
The Brits manage to neutralise the MMG bunker with some well placed smoke as the recce and Gurkha section sneak up on a Japanese deployment point. Seems to be going well for the Brits…#spreadthelard
The Japanese make their first move! And it’s a punchy one! An ambush bunker with a MMG reveals itself on the slope of the hill. Cleverly positioned to cover the paddy fields and across the face of the jungle covered hill, it opens fire on the Gurkha section. Only one shock though!!!
The Brits making all the moves as the Japanese sit tight. A Reece unit and supporting Gurkha section move in on the right flank whilst another section moves out of the Chung on the left. What will the Japanese do…?
A fairly aggressive Brit patrol phase leaves the chung in their control, an excellent forming up point. Brit forces are a recce patrol consisting of a Gurkha plt, universal carriers and a MMG. The Japanese are deep in their bunkers waiting though… #spreadthelard #15mm #wargaming
CoC2 re-learn. And in the jungle as well! I’ve got some ideas about a Japanese bunker scenario/campaign so trying a few things out today. #spreadthelard #15mm #wargaming

Finished last night, 15mm platoon of King's African Rifles for #Chainofcommand2 along with a FOO and support MMG. Figures mostly from Battlefront, but also includes some Peter Pig and Eureka. #spreadthelard
Ooh… Snap! Just finishing off my own KAR platoon in 15mm. Been sitting around half finished for a while but decided to finish it before getting on with the early war Indian army platoon. All Peter Pig. Nicely done Alex.

Cool! The whole non-basing hobby needs to see that article!

No more ‘it wouldn’t match the road/field/railtrack/beach’ nonsense from them…
Yeah but just off shot, it hit a pebble and rolled, injuring the crew…
I’m the opposite, I can put a model down for years then come back to it. Sometimes because I’ve lost it… but only sometimes…🤷‍♂️🙄
I’m tempted by 28mm every know and then cause fun to paint. But I’ll only do one force and no terrain if I do it for WW2. Somebody else needs to sort that out…

I’m going to do a Gurkha plt in 28mm one day just for fun! And I do have some dark ages stuff in 28mm that I’m slowly working through.
Interestingly enough, collecting new terrain verses using stuff I already have is one of the first things I think about before moving into a new scale. It’s why 15mm tends to be my goto these days. Although 2mm terrain is a doddle, especially if I make it myself. Apart from forests obviously!
Graeme and I are looking at that. I might try and test out the rules with my 2mm Strength and Honour bases, see if that works. And yeah, 2mm armies don’t half take up very little space…👍
Yeah, I’ve got a mix of FOW and PSC tanks, all plastics and they’re much of a muchness. I think the FOW ones are simpler and easier to put together but the PSG ones are a little more detailed, closer to an old style Airfix kit.
Jungle terrain… taking up loads of space… are you mad…😜

Yeah, I feel you, my jungle terrain is at least half the terrain boxes in my hobby space. Mind you, loads of fun to build. You could collect them anyway and nag Joe into using his jungle?
Mind you, I loath the FOW infantry in resin, it’s a horror to clean up (universal carriers presently stalled for just that reason, cleaning up the crew is a PITA…!)
