Boris Karloff appeared on I'VE GOT A SECRET on CBS #OTD in 1954.

He lampooned his horror persona w/ a "blood-curdling scream contest" featuring audience members.

The winner got a truly malevolent prize: two cartons of the sponsor's cigarettes.

Below, two political cartoons by Herblock (Herbert Lawrence Block), #botd in 1909 and died in 2001. Depressing to consider how little has changed--and yet how much. And with the loss of newspapers, either from doors (or minds) closing, political cartooning seems vulnerable.
