The first is the IndyGo Foundation, which provides bus passes to low income riders and charitable organizations, and helps to build more accessible bus stops across the city. A donation of just $4 can help a rider get where they need to go for a day.

Expected to start construction soon: The Eagle Creek Greenway between US 136 and Washington Street, where it’ll connect to the IndyGo Blue Line. The project also calls for a new sidewalk connection to the Route 3 bus stop at Lynhurst and 10th.

I’ve got to give kudos to whoever at DPW made the decision to extend the Grassy Creek Greenway south down Mitthoeffer so it would connect to the IndyGo bus stop. Great way to make one of Indy’s coolest parks a little bit more transit accessible.

For today’s #LayoverLibrary, I’m reading ‘The Sprawl’, a look at the art the suburbs have inspired, blended with a necessary critique of their form (and the consequences of that form), and ending with a call to end the sprawl and build suburbs that create community.

hey hey @mirrorindy.org I wouldn’t push people to use Google Maps for biking directions. Highly recommend @transit.app for biking directions. GM’s biking directions will get you killed.

I say this as a child of the suburbs, who had a classmate that strangled an elderly man to death in a public park within spitting distance of my house. The most pristine facades often conceal the most sordid behavior.

reading a fascinating book (that cites many medical studies) that ties the isolating aspects of the suburbs to violent teen behavior and you know, it’s something I had a supposition of, but reading it is just shocking

Yes, every 4 months, usually Feb/Jun/Oct. Sometimes the most senior operators keep their routes, but my previous run was broken up to be combined with other routes.

Worth a read. Just absolutely shocking how often corruption in the Mayor’s office led to selection of unvetted developers, leaving a myriad of stalled developments in the wake.

Mayor Joe Hogsett was once named “Mr. Clean” by a watchdog organization for his tough stance on government corruption as U.S. attorney.

A Mirror Indy/IndyStar investigation finds that the mayor ignored conflicts of interest involving millions of dollars in city incentives. https://bit.ly/3L8OOBe
