I always get so pissed off reading Murakami because he settles you in, the mood is great, vibes immaculate, then he drops some of the creepiest, shallow, over-sexualised trash you've ever read and ruins the whole thing

These types of restrictions on voting are not unique to Denmark, but it raises the question for me: what % of a tax-paying, legally resident population can be disenfranchised before it stops being a democracy?

Permanent residence for non-EU nationalities takes at least 5 years, with language tests and various other requirements, and anecdotal evidence says that even then it can be denied.
Citizenship? Laughable, people live their whole lives fully integrated into Denmark and are never granted it.

Hey guys, did you know that more than 9% of voting-age residents of Denmark are disenfranchised? In Copenhagen, closer to 20%. That's because they are not Danish citizens.
Some of them can vote in local elections: only if they are EU citizens, or have had permanent residence for more than 4 years.

While it is absolutely valid to criticise the recipients of nepotism, I think it's vital that we make a conscious effort to demonise their benefactors as well: systematically consolidating power without a thought towards competence

Every time I see a video of those "sandwiches" where they wrap a slice of bread up with some ham and cabbage on the *inside* of an omelette, I'm left wondering who on earth would willingly pick that up in their hands. Greasy egg is not an appetising feeling on the fingers
