Typical last year, over $16,000 in unusable medical expenses (closer to $22K really) because I don't earn enough. Someone making twice as much as me can claim it, me, making about half the national average cannot.

They wanted me to spend a month post back surgery in some kind of half-way house. I laughed. It's not free.
If you live alone, if there is no family nearby, you grit your teeth and deal with the pain by yourself.
I do get 1.5 hrs home care per week though, not free either, but subsidized.

SK. But it's the same across Canada. I meant income tax "refunds" for medical expenses. If you're so poor already that you pay no income taxes, everything is out of pocket.

Depends on income level. Under $25K you get nothing back. Zilch. Nada. Any rebates do not apply to you, so out of pocket expenses are 100%
Same goes for any "tax cuts". It only affects the well off. The poor, those on assistance, get nothing but pay the same amount for drugs for example.

Welcome to you "you can't go bankrupt in Canada on medical bills" BS again. Yes, you can. Easily, especially if you're on the lower end of the economic pile. No "everything" is NOT free if you're on assistance either.
If you're middle class you'll probably be fine, the rest of us they don't care.

Not just cancer, but any serious medical condition. You can become bankrupt in Canada from medical bills.

Cancer comes with unexpected bills: time off work, travel to appointments, meds and more. Help lower the cost of cancer.

And they may in fact be bad for you, if you've already got other medical issues. Gastroissues the last 2-3 day, not sure what's causing it, but I'm not going to be eating them uncooked anymore. Have them in my protein balls. Maybe just too much fibre?

Sounds like the dietary people at RGH.

They get it right for one meal, then the other two are like pure carnivore diet practically.

They don't seem to understand the concept that bland means no salt or sugars or pepper. I get it, they make like 400 meals, but it's a hospital,people are sick

Everything is broken down by this government. You should see the sad state of repair at RGH. Great people, doing miracles with broken equipment and often duct tape, literally.
Toilets backed up on two floors of one wing I was on. Sewage water in the hallways.
