For sure, I think the people were doing the best they could but they need more staff and money to be able to look after people properly

And for individual services to communicate better, more joined up thinking. But it’s hard to do that if everyone is overworked and underpaid

Thanks, yeah it gets harder when there’s also addiction involved because she kept getting passed between departments (which is crazy, when addiction and mental health is so linked)

And was misdiagnosed with bpd for a while as well

But luckily a hyper fixation she had was researching adhd

Louis is right in what he says in DOAC, knowing someone struggling can feel helpless and your 150% isn’t enough to make things right

But there is hope and things can turn around, and your efforts, love and friendship don’t go unnoticed by the people you know who are struggling

Diagnosed sooner, so that she didn’t have to suffer so much for the past several years

I’m so grateful to have her here but today is a lot, being reminded of how close we were several times to that not being the case

Reminder of how bad it was, and how much worse it could have been, is a lot.

And I’m also angry because in that time she was finally diagnosed with ADHD and given the right medication for that and depression, both of which she had her self medicating for years with alcohol

I know today is about Liam, and rightly so but this time last year my oldest friend was in and out of hospital and mental health facilities with complications from addiction and really bad mental health

I am so so grateful that she is still here and in a much much better place now
