Not awesome: not giving me any notice that your contractors would be setting foot on my property (I am forever grateful for you all allowing my contractors to put ladders/scaffolds on your land while my house was being worked on! I always asked and gave you a heads up).

I came out in the morning to discover workers IN MY YARD, moving around my belongings, walking on my flower beds, when I was in a hurry to get to work on my e-bike. Thankfully, I managed to learn that they did not need further access to my property before I left.

Unfortunately, these incompetent bozos trampled all over my native plants*, left pieces of metal fence detritus on my property and just generally left a mess.

I had hoped they would return to finish/clean up their work, to no avail. I even thought, for some odd reason, that maybe YOU ALL would sweep up the mess. Ha ha!

I did so this morning. I placed the non-organic materials which I found on my property during a brief sweeping into your mailbox. I swept the branches and dirt onto your sidewalk. Please clean it up ASAP.

*Kindly give me the name of this business, so that I can follow up next spring if my Jack-in-the-pulpit plants fail to return due to their workers trespassing onto my land without my permission. I will request compensation/new plants if this happens.

As you may have surmised, I am done with coddling you all as you attempt to learn how to be responsible, competent and caring owners of a 100+ year old home in this wonderful neighborhood where I have lived, been a PPNA board and block club member and leader, and just generally worked my ass off for over 25 years. I’m sick of your many excuses and incessant claims of ignorance about being homeowners and taking care of your house and yard.

Going forward, I will be reporting any issues I observe about your property to 911. I understand that someone else complained, or an inspector simply cited, your ridiculous mess of a back fence/gate back in July! Since I’ve been biking while saving money to repair my car, I kind of forgot about that eyesore, but I’ll be reaching out to inspections about that, about the peeling/delaminating paint on the rear of your house, and of course, the garage gutter, which I myself could replace with a quick visit to Menards and a couple hours of labor.

There are loads of videos and websites out there to help old house owners do simple repairs. I highly suggest you check them out before spending your hard-earned money on people like the bozos who did the fence!
