It made me more curious, more empathetic & more willing to take risks & welcome discomfort

I say this as a woman who grew up in a super rural town in Colorado where my K-12 school system totaled 200 children. Where my queer friends & self felt unsafe/unwelcome — at the same historical time #matthewsheppard was brutally beaten, #columbinschoolshooting locked us down. See the bigger picture
