If you need to explain to an idiot why Tolkien would have despised these goons, I have already grabbed a picture of the relevant passage (and I doubt I was the first):
Ditto--my dad’s cousin (and said cousin’s wife) were my cousins, but my grandfather’s friend across the way was my Uncle Bill.

Which actually also confused me because Uncle Bill was older than Methuselah, I was told, and felt more like a second grandfather, but whatever.
Does he not understand the term “obligate carnivore”?
Just posted one!
So it turns out that in addition to cured meats (duh), fish (duh), and seaweed (huh?), MewMew is a fiend for apricots.

Meanwhile Natasha still favors potato chips and popcorn.

If you have it please donate cash to the food banks. $10 in their hands will feed more people than the $10 worth of canned goods you can buy for retail prices. Also check on your elders. Many of them will not admit they rely on these programs so grocery gift cards or a surprise bag of staples
"and then I realized I have become That Guy, and am seeking help immediately."
Thermasilk socks and gloves with the fingertips cut off are my go-tos. Plus a hot water bottle for my toes.

Have already managed a shade of purple this season, ugh.

Amateurs. My spouse is *very* into making cocktails and will begrudgingly provide me with the Sir Laurence:

-fill the glass with olives
-then and only then add the dirty martini around them

So-called because it's "olivier" than he considers reasonable.

I don’t know why but I really am stuck on the hearth. Also the part where it looks like a circular firing (skewering?) squad.
Which medievalist wished we were more relevant, c’mon, fess up, I know it was all of us but only one had the monkey’s paw
Realizing @lollardfish.bsky.social and @profgabriele.com have surely already seen this, but I guess everything’s medieval now.

Except I’m not sure my house actually has a hearth? and it’s a century-old house, not a modern apartment. Am I defending my heat pump? My microwave?
oh boy, that there sure is an AI medievalism
Like aside from how fast this is happening, during a shutdown, the mind also boggles at the current and future security implications.
