I truly cannot comprehend genuinely thinking that human beings are not fucking entitled to EAT FOOD. or genuinely having no motivation to help other human beings. or genuinely believing there's any circumstance that somehow negates someone's basic needs as a human being.

I guess I just don’t really agree that protests, specifically, should be “fun” or that people should be convinced to protest by it seeming like a good time? I don’t get why there can’t be various types of events that serve various purposes, including finding community and celebrating resistance

whenever there are pictures from the big boy protests/marches/etc it's 90% people grinning and posing with their witty quirky signs. like what are we doing here. happiness and fun are essential and joy is resistance but this practice doesn't really sit right with me

there's two small demonstration groups in my area that stand at a major intersection and a tesla dealership, respectively, every saturday, and the signs are always straightforward with maybe a couple witticisms thrown in and that feels way more... normal? organic? not performative??

I'm not really informed enough to have a big opinion re: the discussion on the efficacy of protests in the US, but I will say I don't like how major protests here are often reduced to a showcase of Funny Signs
