I very much believe that the concept of meritocracy will destroy us all. When the metrics are more important than the people they supposedly measure, it won't be long before those people become mere things to be used, bought, and sold like any other commodity. History proves this.

The sad part is none of that money is even real money. It's all just potential money in the stock market. And banks should not be allowed to use such ephemeral value as collateral to loan them funds. Make them sell off their stocks when they want to fund projects.

It's not that there were no diseases that went from the Americas to Europe. There were. They just weren't the type of diseases that would be talked about in polite society. (In other words, most of them were STDs.)

My best argument against flat earth: if the earth were flat, the edge or ice wall would be more commercialized and tourist trapped than the Grand Canyon and Niagra Falls combined.

In my opinion, adjectives applied to other people's gender based on (usually assumed) biological sex are unnecessarily rude and divisive.
If he is a man, call him a man.
If she is a woman, call her a woman.
If they are both/neither, call them genderfluid/agender.*
*Or whichever label they prefer.
