The voters showed they preferred candidates who demonstrated competence and basic human kindness.

These are traits not seen in the Trump administration, or in the R candidates who feel they have to model themselves after DJT.
At this point when Rs have to be chained to DJT who keeps being more and more toxic, all Ds need to do is project competence and basic human kindness. That's all it takes. You can do it from the left or from the center, whichever works for your district.
My take:
Rs have to suck up to DJT.
DJT is increasingly toxic, particularly in blue-leaning states.
Dems can run candidates appropriate to the place they are running. Give voters a sense of competence and normal human kindness. That's all it takes.
You mean the Hezbollah-like splinter group off of the vegetarians are giving you a hard time? Consider it a badge of honor.
I don't think a class of such people actually exists.

History suggests otherwise. These leaders are people just like us. Not better. Not worse.

Heroes are rare. And they nearly never run big organizations.

How many Navalnys do you think there are for each Mandela.
I'm not sure it's not just human nature. I think it's likely I would capitulate if an authoritarian government threatened me or my family with ruin, exile, great harm, etc.

The institutions are no better than the median person in their leadership.

Heroes are rare.
WaPo, before it bent the knee, counted 30,000 lies during the first term. That's 20 per day on average.

He crammed most of them into one hour, but still not an outlier by any means.
The lesson of our time - large enterprises: businesses, universities, law firms, and the very wealthy are the most susceptible to authoritarian assault. Having a lot to lose turns out to be a great weakness.

We will get through this only with millions of ordinary folk acting en masse.
It's three sizes too small.
No one person represents the "future of the Party". The Dems need to be a big tent or they will lose over and over.
If the Party moves left, it loses. Same if it moves to the center. It has to embrace both, run candidates appropriate to the districts, states, in question. Get bigger or lose.
Only one third of Americans get a college degree.

What will this do for the two thirds majority?
Attacking Schumer while the country is being actively destroyed by far right goons is dumber than dumb.

The "Dems suck" narrative is tedious and not constructive in any way.

If Platner is going this he's part of the problem, not the solution.
Oh Protestants hate the Catholics
And the Catholics hate the Protestants
And the Hindus hate the Moslems
And everybody hates the Jews.
Hastert would give him a run for his money.
They don't have to confirm her. Just like they didn't have to confirm RFK Jr.

The ones that vote for these creeps have blood on their hands.
It's amazing how many narcissistic sociopaths this administration can dig up.
Yawn, another "Dems suck" piece. The country is actively being torn apart by far right goons- and all folks can do is enumerate the ways in which Dems suck???

Really
I used to contribute to the ADL. No more.
It doesn't "wear thin" with Americans who never hear about it. Doubt you will see this on Fox.
Great piece. Now the follow up:
"We asked working class Mainers at Moody's Diner what they think about Nazi Tattoos."
The problem: the ACA is at its heart a Republican plan. It was dreamed up by the Heritage Foundation as a "private based" alternative to government payer health insurance. There really is no "more Republican" plan. Hence, there is no plan. Never was. Never will be.
It's not "payback". It's simple racism.
Not so great for Jews either

The New York Times editorial board thinks Democrats should “move to the center.”

Where the hell is the center between democracy and fascism?
