We have story arcs in the immediate following chapters that make that really hard to believe, much less the entire rest of the game.

You're telling me the imperial army wasn't grinding bearers with healing magic down to husks? You never saw that?

I get that they've sort of written themselves into a corner in that they have to go through this arc for the sake of the player rather than the characters but at the same time there had to have been a better way to do this.

Clive says he's never in his 13 years seen a bearer die from the curse--

I think that should have been Dion's story arc if I'm honest but instead the topic of bearers basically never comes up for him which is kind of funny.

We know more about Kupka's opinions on bearer rights than we do Dion's

In retrospect it is really bewildering that they chose '13 years in the bearer slave meat grinder army' guy and '13 years in the bearer child ritual murder nation' girl as the characters who receive the omg the bearer plight is so sad story arc

I think none of that would have been news to them tbh

(And also the game makes it very clear that Ultima is not above using sex to fuck with/manipulate people, that is on the table for him from the start so people should do more with that tbhhhhhh)
