The pastry is named for the Paris-Brest-Paris cycling endurance race that has been staged every four years since 1891. The 750-mi. event is older than the Tour de France, and requires athletes to complete the ride in under 70 hours, for their performance to be officially recorded. 😎

I view AI in much the same way Americans in the 1920s probably viewed internal combustion automobiles.

The potential upside is beyond imagination. But the early Model Ts and such had a lot of unforeseen issues, and the general public was skeptical of 'horseless carriages' for a good many years. 😎

TPM makes an excellent point! Massive organizations such as those in the U.S. gov't are very unwieldy, and so they respond slowly to ever-changing circumstances.

The protest organizers need to keep changing things up, every day, so ICE and the ANG troops cannot get a read on what's coming next! 😎💪

The saddest past of this entire episode? The fact that 'Dopey McGropey' and his pal, the malevolent muskrat, have made the same kind of disaster relief funding cuts in many other catastrophe-prone geographic areas of the U.S.

I don't doubt the family's story for a moment.

These are NOT highly trained and well-disciplined professional soldiers! They're what's known in military parlance as "weekend warriors." By many accounts, half of those now deployed on the streets of American cities are violence-inclined thugs. 😠
