This puts every "romantic" (no matter how loosely defined) relationship on the same wavelength. She treats them all as passing, noncommittal flings where she can come and go as she pleases. If there's no power dynamic where she's the protector/provider then it must not be that serious

This is why her relationship w/Rhani starts to fall apart the moment he tells her he isn't willing to leave behind the tribe to run off with her and the two children they have together. She realizes she can't protect him from his tribe or his parents

Actually wait yeah ik what it is. Tehna thinks loving someone romantically, like TRULY loving them, means protecting them. If they can't/don't need to be protected then her relationship to them is defined as casual at best

to her it's two people who have some sort of agreement with each other but they both fuck off and do their own thing most of the time. unfortunately that's a lot like what Rhani's Seeker society sorta does? but also her mother and "stepsire" (both Keepers) were like this so she has no good reference

but the problem is she thinks of it as "why not?" rather than "is this a good/smart idea? is he the right one?" she never regrets having children for a moment of course but. one does have to admit she was pretty stupid in the way she went about having them. impulsive that's the word.

+from age 5 on when her mother whisked them both away from their perfectly fine Seeker tribe home in Old Sharlayan to live alone beyond the bounds of literally any nearby neighborhood.

anyway it would be weird to refuse and she DOES love him, so why not?

she had children with Rhani because she thought that's what two people who love each other do. it's the logical next step despite knowing Rhani for all of a month(!!!?). and again, he's the nunh and it's tradition and she's ALWAYS wanted to take part in Seeker tradition after being deprived of that+

it also kinda says a lot abt Tehna that for someone who loves her freedom she rushed into her FIRST(!!!) relationship REALLY FAST. enjoyed her 20s for three years meets a guy around her age he becomes nunh and bam. soon she's going to be a mother at 24.

finally working on the wolmom timeline again and I am enjoying this emerging dynamic between Tehna (who's spending her newfound time away from home/children acting like her 20yo self) and her Path companion (who is ACTUALLY in her mid-20s)
