Late-night thought 🧵:

Going to do a bit of a #betterdaysmtg exercise, and reflect on how I've grown as a content creator over the last 5 years:

-I went from no social media following to having thousands of followers across different social media

Ordinary People.

My parents similarly have a clear favorite and are cold to me.

Hey #edh:

What's a weird deck you've thought about making, but haven't pulled the trigger on?

One of the ones I've theory-crafted but haven't built is a Kestrel Bird deck that uses only birds that look like regular birds (no Aven). I've also thought about building a silly "Gift a Fish" deck.

Ah, I see we have the same nightly routine 🥲

Love seeing a couple of bouncing commanders!

People balked at it when I originally pitched it because they felt there were only a few playable commanders, but there are a lot of options, and you can play it at different power levels, including just using whatever legends you have in a binder!

MinEDH is a lot like teaching Mates in chess, if you've ever done that. When training to be a good chess player, you'll learn endgames by trying to form checkmates using fewer and fewer pieces.

I've also been theory crafting a format I call "MinEDH", with a commander and 20 basics. It's a bit like EDH combined with 3-card Monte

I'd love to try Cube, and have built a couple, but it's hard enough for me to find a pod of 4 for commander, let alone 8 to draft and play multiple rounds.

Tiny Leaders is another one that seems like it could be cool to revisit, but has so much baggage on it.

I play PDH, Arsenal, Horde, and Pendragon.

I created Arsenal and made my own Hordes with some special rules.

Might be the hardest I've laughed at a 1-off line

Sorry for your loss. May his memory be for a blessing.

To me, if I'm teaching someone Magic in general (and not just commander as a format), the commander should be the card that is the most complex and has the most play. The 99 should have functional reprints or similar effects and the mana should be simple, 1-2 colors with mostly basics.

These are my beginner decks:

Ovika Big Mana
Ezuri Elfball
Ishkanah Spiders
Sygg Tempo
Xantcha Politics
Siona Auras

Most of the cards are either French Vanilla creatures or cards with 1-2 lines of text, so they are easy to play but hard to master.
