A large cutout photo of a bronze Jayhawk sculpture. The Jayhawk’s head partially covers a photo of a sunflower, and the beak extends over a photo of fans doing the Wave the Wheat cheer. Another photo shows students walking by Budig Hall. Text on the body of the Jayhawk sculpture reads, “Fall 2026 applications now open.”

Building our future from the ground up. 🏗️ Prolific architect Bjarke Ingels recently spoke to ArcD students about the plans for KU’s new center for design education. The building will offer Jayhawks a world-class academic research facility where they can learn, collaborate, and create. Rock Chalk!
A photo of one of Bjarke Ingels' designs is displayed on a screen during his presentation. The design is a large treehouse covered on all surfaces with birdhouses, creating the appearance of a floating wooden ellipsoid in a forest. Ingels gestures with his arms in the air as he lectures to KU architecture and design students. A photo displayed on a presentation screen shows the proposed structure for KU's new design education center. The structure is a tall building with an exterior of panels, large windows, and intersecting lines that create a pattern of geometric shapes. Ingels speaks to an auditorium of listeners. He gestures toward his presentation slide displayed on several screens.

Thanks to Elyce Arons, former KU student and co-founder of the Kate Spade and Frances Valentine brands, for sharing her style smarts and business savvy with the KU community last week. Jayhawk creations make the world better, brighter, and more fashionable. 👜 Rock Chalk!
Arons stands up from the book-signing table to embrace Baby Jay, her hand holding a book open. Her bejeweled hand holding a microphone, Arons speaks while Elizabeth Embry, moderator and assistant professor in the KU School of Business, listens. The crowd listens as Arons speaks. Behind her, presentation screens show an old photo of her seated with three people. Arons sits in a red chair, holding a microphone and wearing gold slingback heels.

Earlier this week, bestselling author John Green made us laugh, think, and take stock of our humanity. 📚 Thanks to the Hall Center for the Humanities and KU Libraries for helping create this opportunity to learn from a world-class author, advocate, and Anthropocene reviewer. Rock Chalk!
Author John Green sits next to KU English professor Giselle Anatol in armchairs on the Lied Center's stage. A pair of hands holds two copies of John Green's book "The Anthropocene Reviewed." An attendee hands John Green a stack of books to be signed. More attendees wait in line in the background. John Green shakes hands with a KU student at a table where others are gathered around for a meal.
