A small hydropower station built in 1906 in Hveragerði. It was used to power the first streetlights in rural Iceland. This was done following an accident when a man fell into a hot spring at night and died. The hot spring was then named Manndrápshver (man killing hot spring).

The main house in Kotvogur burnt down in 1934, killing three people. Originally used for storage, this house survived the fire and was later converted to a dwelling. It was abandoned in 1984.

For context, the big stick from yesterday is next to the remnants of Kotvogur. Kotvogur was quite large during the 19th century. There were 16 houses with 38 doors on hinges, which I assume was super impressive in 19th century Iceland.
