It is deeply satisfying connecting with the land, the soil feeling warmer than the air as I remove it from the Earth with thanks.

Roman god of beginnings and transitions; consequently god of doorways, opening and closing of conflicts, boundaries, January (named for him), also journeys and birth. Well known for his role protecting doorways, particularly the entrance to houses.

We only know Cathubodua through chance, and linguistic parallels. Offer up a little prayer to her next time you see a Crow, feed some crows in her honour, or give her an offering at home. I give whiskey to The Mórrígan, so I offer up the same to Cathubodua!

Because of her name, the Celtic association of crows with war, and the similarity of her name to the Irish Badb/Badb Catha (also meaning battle crow, and one of The Mórrígan) it is supposed she is a Gaulish goddess of war, battle and potentially prophecy similar to The Mórrígan.

Deity of the Week - Cathubodua
A Celtic/Gaulish goddess of (probably) war. Her name translates as “Battle Crow” and was found on a single inscription in France, on a pillar devoted by a follower.
