From quickly googling they dehorn them to stop them injuring other cattle and farm workers. Some breeds can get ingrowing horns. Horned cows can be more aggressive. Broken horns can cause blood loss and infection.

From looking at the law you need to use Anesthesia for most of these with some exceptions where it's seen as unnecessary

I know there is footage of animal mistreatment. People can be extraordinarily cruel when they think they can get away with it. I also know we prosecute people that are unnecessarily cruel to animals.

Are you in the US. I'm in the UK we generally treat our animals well, have plenty of fields for them to graze and roam in. They tend to be outside most of the day

I don't feel sad about eating animals. I try and ensure I eat as little as possible and that I try and make sure that they are free range when I do.

Because nobody will let non profitable livestock live on land that they could be using for something that will make them money. So you would be left with the option of starving them or slaughtering them.

Number of livestock in existence if we all go vegan is about 0 give or take. It would be the effective extinction of those types of animals. There are currently more than 1.5 Billion cows on the planet. Where do they go if they don't make money who feeds them for free

Imagine if everyone became vegan.

The first thing that would happen would be the slaughter and burial of every single cow, pig, hen and sheep. Perhaps some kept in zoos for old times sake.

The only reason they are kept alive is their produce which vegans don't use
