Hokkaidokurpitsasatoa kotikasvimaalta. Isoin on vain appelsiinin kokoinen, joten ei näistä vatsat juuri täyty, mutta huvin vuoksi ja ”vapaalla kasvatuksella” kun harrastaa, ei voi paljoa vaatiakaan. Joku tautikin meillä kurpitsoja vaivaa. Vettä on tänä vuonna ainakin riittänyt.

Germany’s famous study showed over 80% insect declines in farmland over 27 years. “Those findings were often blamed on pesticides and habitat loss. Sockman’s work shows something different. Insects are collapsing even in a meadow with little human pressure. Climate itself may be enough.”

Over 20 yrs of flying insect counts at a remote high(3000m)-mountain meadow in Colorado (by a very dedicated observer) shows insect counts fell by an average of 6.6%/yr, overall a 72.4% drop. The main culprit was rising summer temperatures, especially warmer nights. ½

Niin hieno sää, että sai vihdoin vetää puimahousut jalkaan ja lähteä peltsulle. Märkä kesä on innostanut apilaa vähän liikaa, mutta kyllä tästä kauraakin tulee. Kaura on itse asiassa selvinnyt kokonaisuutena parhaiten.
