The natural conclusion of their argument is to ban alcohol, which as you said is more harmful than Class A drugs, and as Jeremy said, kids don't actually drink anymore anyway; but no-one wants to make that argument. It's just a waste of police resource which should be diverted into health care.

Predictable that Israel is not beating the allegations; starving and punishing civilians by keeping the Rafah gate closed because Hamas can't dig through the rubble of bombed buildings enough to get the remains of the hostages and separate them from dead Gazans.

The other issue is that, as said elsewhere, it pretends to be a representation of an individual's needs but is nothing more than a simple "We need X to run this council. Break the houses into indexed percentage blocks and divide the total by them." Most council costs go on older people in bungalows.

One issue is that it caps, so a 4 bed detached on an estate is charged the same as a private estate. Also, hasn't been re-assessed for decades so if you don't sell you pay on the status of your house in 97(?) even if you've stuck another storey on since then.

The BBC framing of the fighting between Hamas and the Dughmush clan is disturbing - the Dughmush are literally Al Qaeda, and think Hamas are religious & political backsliders. It’s likely they were the ones who carried out the majority of murders on October 7th.
