Get fired then. Sue for wrongful dismissal. Resigning is not the act of defiance that some want to pretend it is. There will soon be very little left of the institutions that people think will protect America. The facade is just about gone.
Maybe just quitting and not saying why isn't the answer? Surrendering a position that has any influence or power just so it can be filled by someone they choose... It seems like you are helping them get what they want? Too many people just gave up.
