for the second day of japan movie month i went off track and watched lost paradise (1997), dir. yoshimitsu morita

the movie was a pleasant watch overall, depicting true (forbidden, adulterous) love as well as unhappiness and loneliness in a very intimate way.
a movie sensual and tender.
sad, too.
starting the new year by joining the japanuary month on letterboxd and celebrating the amazing kōji yakusho's birthday on the first of january with
perfect days (2023), dir. wim wenders

looking at pictures inside my phone and sighing, dreamily

mifune toshiro as tetsu, jakoman and tetsu (1949)
mori masayuki as nakanuma, the good fairy (1951)

let's all say: thank you kinoshita-san
the second step is to watch sanshiro sugata, part two 1945 and isn't it just promising that kurosawa didn't even want to make it in the first place.
masayuki mori and seiji miyaguchi please save the day. seiji miyaguchi and masayuki mori please. please.
yes i watched it.
starting this thing with a friend but the first step is to watch sanshiro sugata 1943. which is not bad actually but something tells me i am not the target audience for it.
yes i watched it twice anyway.
