Whenever I’d run into Drew, he was always so warm and easy to talk to. His gigantic status as an artist was betrayed by his humble and mellow personality.

Regarding his infamous The Thing poster, he said he was given 24 hours to complete it. The courier was waiting in his studio as he finished it and the painting was packed while it was still drying.

Many years ago, I had the honor of visiting Drew’s studio. He shared incredible stories of last minute studio changes that necessitated painting the changes, cutting them out, and pasting them onto the original painting.

RIP Drew Struzan. Your work and career were a huge inspiration to me and so many other artists. It was always a pleasure to see you work on posters for newer movies.

My condolences to his family and friends.
