I traveled up to the Skagit flats in WA this afternoon. Too early for the snow geese and the swans, and fall colors haven't really kicked in yet, but it was a beautiful day! (Mt. Baker is the snow covered peak in the photo on the right.

I will have to check that out! We get a lot of eagles congregating to feed on salmon in the Skagit River in the winter months.

Me too. I will never forget. I was at work early (west coast), and the only co-worker called to tell me a plane hit the Twin Towers. I said "you're kidding, right?" ... then he said "No. Turn on the News". We both left work. In cars everywhere - I saw the ashen faces of my stunned fellow Americans.
