One step greater in complexity is Star Battle. Same rules but TWO stars, which is a surprisingly different experience. Same outcome, #JustBeatIt 's Med & Difficult puzzles too.

Queens has the logical deduction of Sudoku, but reduced to its simplest concentration. One queen per row, column, & area; they cannot touch. Still a surprising level of complexity & satisfaction. #JustBeatIt all regular & difficult puzzles (fiendish lives to to the name)

Up Left Out is a somewhat abstract mobile sliding tile puzzle game, but it has a tactile quality and intuitive rules and I #JustBeatIt. Not an all-timer, but a nice vibe and an okay way to pass a bit of time.

Sonic Generations is the most fun I've had playing a 3D Sonic game since Adventure 1 / 2! I didn't expect it to live up to the hype, but glad I was mistaken. I #JustBeatIt but there are still fun extras to consider chasing, something I've not done in previous iterations.

Of those I've played, Gremlins 2 is pretty dang tough but doable. Beat it many times in the day.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue ends with a ridiculous boss rush that I cannot do w/o save states.

Bart vs the Juggernaut is very difficult but mostly just because it's also bad.

Cocoon was an incredible gaming experience when I #JustBeatIt. At once grotesque & alien yet unassailably beautiful & intuitive. The puzzly difficulty curve was gentle, but it never bored. It highly controlled its complexity while still providing satisfying aha moments.

Nice read, it's neat to hear some "inside baseball" about a service I used. I really appreciated how slick GameTap was, as a brand & as a service. I was sad to see it fail.
For me, emulation scratched that momentary retro itch w/o a monthly fee. I'm still not sure how Antstream keeps going honestly.
