It does seem to be that way-- the glory days of being able to chat with people you barely know now seems vaguely strange. Even posting food photos seems odd when it used to feel normal.

It's awful. People are being taken by force from the streets, from courts, from churches, from schools, from workplaces and sent "somewhere" with no access to an attorney, family, friends, or a phone. Anyone can be disappeared into the ocean or to a prison in Uganda, never to be heard from again.

Harvard Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program. Due to circumstances beyond our control and beyond the control of our 2025-2026 admitted fellows, we are unable to consider the following disciplines: Film and Video, Music, Playwriting, Poetry, and Visual Arts.

Earlier this year, the Republicans cut the Fulbright program, stranding writers, artists and professors in foreign countries, who had left lives in the US to carry out amazing long-term creative and research fellowships. Poof! They were cut off.
