Another old favorite from Europe, from the Castellers competition in Taragona, Spain, 2015. The little kids that climb to the top of these human towers are fearless.

The last day of summer is still a few weeks out, but today is the end for me. After a final bike ride, I’ll pack up and leave the lake for the city. It’s been a magical summer of hiking, biking, kayaking, water skiing, swimming, fishing, and lots of dock time with friends and family.

Fallen Leaf Lake is at the south end of Lake Tahoe. A narrow spit of land separates them, but since Fallen Leaf is at higher elevation, Lake Tahoe would need to rise 150 feet to connect the two. They are joined by Taylor Creek, which provides a migration path for kokanee salmon.

August 22nd had no moon, Jupiter and Venus aligned and bright in the night sky, and the Perseid meteor shower. This is a blend of multiple 15 second exposures taken of Donner Lake between 4:30 and 5 AM. The only meteor I saw was the bright one on the top right, but my camera picked up a few more.
