If anything, I think it's way past time for the blatant violations of human rights being done by the US government to be reported to places like the ICC by those affected. The systems within the US are compromised. And even though the ICC is basically useless these days, the US courts are worse.

Yes, everything they say is projection. There's a reason for it. It's so they can use Democrats as a scapegoat for everything. Just because someone doesn't disavow something pre-emptively doesn't mean they agree with it. Everyone in the general population hates the violence. The fact that anyone on either side subconsciously assumes that the other side doesn't condone violence is something that we all need to work on.

I'm glad one of the first things people do with it is disrespect the dead by making them do and say things they never would and essentially rewrite history in real time. The days of the Internet being a reliable source of information are basically dead when you can't even trust historical video.

That's just human nature. Anybody who thinks they are immune to propaganda are just falling for their own. Sure, there are obvious bad actors and evil people, but the rest are victims that have been manipulated to be afraid or hate. I'm not saying you should forgive them, just don't dehumanize them.

And I'm not talking about those people. Republicans where I live don't even wear the red hats and I haven't even seen one in person for years. There's a totally different vibe with republicans when you leave the south. Hardcore MAGA folk are even a rarity in some places.

I'm just speaking from experience. I live in a red county and I see people like this all the time. They work at my gas stations, grocery stores, and they own the restaurants. A lot of them are good people that have just gotten sucked into the propaganda. We all fall for propaganda all the time.

I'd rather have hope that they are not all literal Nazis than assume the worst in people. I live in a red county and a lot of my neighbors are like this guy. And I get a lot of enjoyment when I show them republican politicians literally fucking them over and seeing them get as pissed as I do.

But the fact that he realized it is extremely important. I have probably only seen that once or twice in recent memory. He didn't just start spewing bullshit and reiterating talking points he's heard on TV, he actually started thinking about it. I can't even get my dad to do that.

I believe there's a big difference between being stupid and being ignorant. You can teach the ignorant to not be ignorant. You can't teach the stupid to not be stupid. I've seen plenty of ignorant people turn their lives around and become decent people. I've never seen someone stupid do the same.
