A deep dive into what we can expect from the Knicks' offense (and which players will benefit most ) under Mike Brown…

Hey Jason!
Well there are 1,200+ games per season, so that one ever couple of games… I actually thought it’d be higher
yup - if made, it counts as made FG for that individual player
In researching the new 'heave rule' (which will record deep end-of-quarter shots as Team FG attempts), the NBA estimates nearly 500 such shots per season were NOT attempted in prior years by players in order to protect their personal shooting percentages.
there will be a lot of quality players waived over the next few days...

the spread of basketball all over the globe has made it increasingly difficult for even extremely talented players to secure covered NBA roster spots
worth noting that the following veterans are still available:

Victor Oladipo,
Markelle Fultz,
Bol Bol,
Cory Joseph,
Mac McClung,
Ben Simmons,
Cody Martin,
Kai Jones,
Damion Lee
Killian Hayes
I’m old enough to remember when the Knicks were the dumbest franchise ever and were doomed b/c it took a couple of weeks to hire a new coach

Fast forward a 2 months and they are one of the championship favorites and Giannis wants to come to NY
amid the current chatter about whether the Knicks circumvented the salary cap to sign Jalen Brunson away from Dallas, it’s important to remind everybody that the move was panned by pundits at the time and plenty of experts thought New York foolishly OVERPAID for JB
yup... so many quality players can't crack NBA rosters!
Nets announce they have waived Dariq Whitehead and Drew Timme

Whitehead was the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft.

Timme averaged 24/10/4 for the Long Island Nets last season.

One problem with stockpiling draft picks is that it leads to a roster crunch at some point.
The only other players to average 5+ dimes and shoot over 50% from the floor in the postseason over the past two years are Jokic, LeBron and Giannis.
Andrew Nembhard's playoff numbers are incredible.

In the 40 playoff games he’s played in, Nembhard has averaged 13.5 points and 5.0 assists while shooting over 51% from the floor and a blistering 47.3% from three-point territory.
The last time LeBron James did not play in a Season Opener was October 2002.

Michael Jordan and John Stockton played that night.

Knicks Improve to 3-0 in Preseason with OT Victory

Mike Brown: “I want them to learn how to play basketball the right way offensively within our staples. That’s pace, whether it’s in the full court or the half court. And it’s spacing."

Future draft picks the Knicks can include in a trade:

First-rounders:
* 2026 first-round draft pick from Washington, top-8 protected. (If the pick does not convey in 2026, then Washington will instead convey its 2026 2nd round pick and 2027 2nd round pick to New York.
The biggest benefit of the Knicks having a leakproof front office headed by Leon Rose is that it allows the organization to explore these opportunities and engage in trade discussions without Knicks players names being made public.
