There is no publicly available data or official report corroborating a $15 trillion committed investment. On April 2025 Lutnick claimed $5 trillion in committed investment. The jump from $5 trillion to $15 trillion in a few months, raises further skepticism.

The unrest is confined to a small area (about one square mile), not citywide, despite Los Angeles’ 502-square-mile expanse. Protests have included blocking the 101 Freeway, and throwing objects at police, but these are isolated compared to the broader peaceful demonstrations.

These tariffs are not paid directly by China to the U.S. Treasury. Instead, they are paid by U.S. importers that purchase goods from Chinese suppliers. These companies then pass the additional costs onto U.S. consumers through higher prices, or they absorb the costs, which can reduce their profits.
