As autumn bird migration rolls into mid October it is the ‘time of the season’ for the ‘Winter Thrushes’ to be arriving on the Northumberland coast to make the most of the ‘berry bounty’ like this Redwing. One of the most exciting ornithological happenings. #nebirding

An almost continuous stream of Barnacle Geese over Aln Estuary, and I gather along the whole of the Northumberland coast this morning. We generally don’t get this sort of opportunity to see these wonderful travellers from Svalbard close up in this sort of number very often. Quite a thrill.

This narrow spit of land in West Estonia at Puise, Matsalu NP provided us an amazing glimpse of Bird Migration. In a brief 30 mins 82 Great Tit, 3 Jay, 1 N/rn Bullfinch, 580 Northern Long-tailed Tit, 56 Siskin, Woodlark, 195 Brambling, 950 Chaffinch were recorded heading west to cross the Baltic Sea

A new airline for me, thanks to the lovely folk of Baltic Nature Tourism. Estonia and Latvia are just fantastic places for bird watching and general wildlife watching. Plenty of interesting activities, and the food is great!

Estonia viz mig was incredible this morning thousands of small birds like this Long-tailed Tit of the ‘cordatus’ white-headed form. Other species include blue and Great Tit, Chafffinch, Brambling and Jay moving west! #birdsoftheworld
