This is a play on Psalm 20.

It is a reminder to many who claim to follow the Bible or Jesus that their lives, words, actions, and values actually contradict and work against the basic tenets of the faith.

This is especially true in America, where being a “Christian” has nothing to do with Jesus.
“Evil may appear to have the day, but it is God who has the eternity. Our trust is not in what we see now but in the faithful love of the One who holds all history.”

~Henri Nouwen
Some trust in bombs
& some in guns,
but we trust

We tend to have more sympathy for people who are just like us.
Yes—he is exactly who he is.

No room for Jesus.
For context, I always communicate with the assumption that other people will see what I type or email or tweet.

Always.

Because that’s how integrity works—we are the same people in public that we are in private.

My neighbours, family, kids, friends will all know the truth.
“But what goes out of the mouth comes from the heart. And that’s what contaminates a person in God’s sight.”

~Jesus
“Nothing is hidden that won’t be exposed. Nor is anything concealed that won’t be made known and brought to the light.”

~Jesus
Of course people are defending leaked group chats filled with racism, bigotry, and violent language.

They know we’d see the same things in their group chats and private conversations.
Fair—we have different values here.
If we’re both condemning Christendom and Christian Nationalism as Antichrist, yes.
Christian Nationalism grows fruit that it is the opposite of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

But why follow Jesus when Satan offers the real power we want?
It certainly grows fruit that it is the opposite of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

But why follow Jesus when Satan offers power?
🔥Any Tower of Babel hot takes?🔥

This Sunday I’m preaching on Genesis chapters 10 & 11.

While my sermon is currently complete, I don’t preach from traditional notes so I’m open to any of your insights!

Also, I love ziggurats, so I’ll definitely be talking about them.
“Jesus consistently refused the way of political power and chose instead the way of vulnerable love.”

~Henri Nouwen

7?

Maybe 8 at this point.
