Ok I will talk about baseball here instead. I co-write The Windup with Ken Rosenthal on The Athletic. It’s a newsletter.

I guess this is how you solve the problem of an unreliable bullpen.

It’s like someone took the NLCS to the principal’s office after that 8-6-2 stunt in Game 1 and now they’re on their best and most boring behavior for Game 2

That's kinda what I mean, though. The best player in the sport can have a bad week and a half, and it's like … no big deal.

They're having a bad time, and what that means is that they've lost one game out of five (and are leading the sixth)

This is what the Dodgers were designed to do. Ho-hum sorta-boring wins where they just suffocate the opposition.

Kudos to their bullpen for being so counter-cultural all season long, but — as history will tell you — those guys always eventually get sidelined or convinced to fall in line.

Mostly — mostly —  the former. One notable exception being the elevator scene after they chase him through the lecture hall or city hall or whatever it was

This has turned into an incredibly tense game! (Complimentary)

So is the foul pole and nobody says “x player grounded into a home run”

I do understand the rule, thank you, and I get why they had to classify it that way, it’s just very funny!!!

Someone asked for this, I can't find the request but I hope you see it. Sal Frelick asking the question on everyone's minds in the moment.

The MLB app just laid down and waved us off. “Call it whatever you want, I’m taking a smoke break”
Max Muncy “grounded” into a double play by hitting the ball 404 feet

(also, sorry, sorry, 8-6-2, not 8-6-3 — that was a typo, which is probably to be expected, given how hard I was laughing)

This is the best thing I have watched on TV in years, maybe decades

With apologies to Dodgers fans, I have not experienced this level of delight watching a baseball game in a WHILE.

A bases-loaded 8-6-3 double play, no runs scored??????????

WHAT??????

I am howling at the moon; this rules. This is Halloweenball. This is haunted chaos. Maybe my favorite play ever

I have not seen this many players on the field look this confused at the same time in years (and I play sandlot baseball)

It is always a gift — one that I never take for granted — that my job is to watch baseball.

But man, some days are better than others, and this entire postseason has made "starting my workday" something I look forward to every Sunday-through-Thursday night.

Mariners-Blue Jays, I'm all in, let's go
